Quinceañeras s’inspire du rituel latino-américain du quinzième anniversaire – le passage symbolique de l’enfance à l’âge adulte. Artistes colombiennes vivant en Europe, Estefanía et Luisa s’intéressent à l’ambivalence des traditions, ancrées ici dans les influences coloniales.

Que signifie atteindre l’âge adulte dans un système cloisonné, et comment s’affranchir des rituels pour les transformer en actes de résistance et d’affirmation de soi? Ensemble, elles explorent de nouvelles formes de représentation féminine.

Quinceañeras draws inspiration from the Latin American ritual of the fifteenth birthday – the symbolic transition from childhood to adulthood. What does coming of age mean in a compartmentalised system, and how can we reclaim these rituals to transform them into acts of resistance and self-affirmation? Together, Estefanía Álvarez Ramirez and Luisa Fernanda Alfonso explore new forms of female representation.

Luisa Fernanda Alfonso et Estefanía Álvarez Ramírez, deux artistes colombiennes, créent des pièces ensemble depuis 2016. Elles abordent la danse et la performance avec une fantaisie humoristique, animées par le besoin urgent d’explorer leur identité latino-américaine et leur amour mutuel. Leur intimité et leur amitié profonde sont leur moteur créatif et leurs outils de subversion. Après des études cinématographiques à l’université Folkwang, leurs créations sont un choc évident entre deux mondes : des structures de composition occidentales qui dépeignent leur nostalgie de leur pays natal et leur sentiment d’absence. « Quinceañeras » est leur première pièce longue durée, créée à la fin du printemps 2026.

Luisa Fernanda Alfonso and Estefanía Álvarez Ramírez are two Colombian artists who have been creating work together since 2016. They approach dance and performance with a playful sense of humour, driven by an urgent need to explore their Latin American identity and their love for one another. Their intimacy and deep friendship are both their creative driving force and their tools for subversion.
Following their studies in film at Folkwang University, their work emerges as a striking encounter between two worlds: Western compositional structures that portray their nostalgia for their homeland and their sense of absence. Quinceañeras is their first full-length piece, created in late spring 2026.
